Embry-Riddle dropped their first game in the NAIA Baseball Opening Round presented by Avista 5-2 to the Thunderbirds of British Columbia 5-2 in Lewiston, Idaho on Monday.
UBC scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, one in the bottom of the second, one in the bottom of the 5th and another in the bottom of the 6th as they held a 5-0 lead.
ERAU scored two runs in the top of the 9th, but the Eagles were unable to complete the comeback falling 5-2.
Luke Jepsen (Temecula, Calif.) was 3-3 for Embry-Riddle with a RBI. Gavin Botts (Lake Forest, Calif.) knocked in the other Eagle run. Cole Altherr (Tucson, Ariz.) was the starting pitcher, throwing eight innings and striking out three.
Embry-Riddle will play again on Tuesday at 11am at Harris Field in Lewiston.
